I hate that ‘4 year college degree’ circle society shoves you in. Because, Oh my! I might graduate a whole semester later than my high school classmates. Oh my! I’m going to go at my own pace. Oh my! One more semester is going to totally ruin my life for, like, ever.
Big whoop. You take a bit more time to complete your degree. It’s not the end of the world! Think about it like this, one more semester/year FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Not so bad of a trade-off, right?
So let’s all just take a breather because college is f&$(%& hard. The stress that can come with choosing a major (and probably what you think will be your “forever path” in life) is UNREAL. Maybe it took you longer to choose a major. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to try and make the best possible decision! Whatever it may be, I hope that in the end you feel confident. ♥
It was tough for me to choose a major. The thought process kind of went like this,
“Do you kinda sorta like science? Do you want a job after college? Do you want a puppy? Yea. Cool. Go for Biology.”
No joke. Am I madly in love with all things under the microscope? Do I want to go to medical school? Nope. I’m just being a realist. The job market sucks and the last thing I want is to be depending on my parents. But hey! Who even knows. I might buy a plane ticket to Ireland and get a job milking some cows.
Cassidy the Cow Milker. Bachelors of Science/Bull Shitter in Biology.
Has a nice ring to it.
College is what you make it. I don’t think I was meant to find a major I’m head-over-heels in love with. And I’m totally OK with that! I have my YouTube and this blog to be passionate about while I pursue a professional career in whatever. Choosing to study Biology doesn’t mean I have to give up what I really enjoy! COMPROMISE & BALANCE. Super duper important.
Alright. Done ranting. Off I go to study how plants mate. Oh joy!
